Vega Bond Purplecoat Single Component Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation Kit (Covers 20 Board Feet Per Can at 1 inch thickness)
Easy set up. No issues. Coverage was accurate. Tip: stop spraying as soon as one of the components begins to sputter when canisters are nearby empty. Components won’t react and harden leaving behind a sloppy mess.
Purchased 2 v600 kits and these kits are awesome. I got great coverage at 2 inches thick. Just follow their recommendations for spraying and you will not be disappointed! You receive plenty of spare spray nozzles so you can take a break when needed.
I had three areas to do: one in my shop (where the wall met the roof) and two in my basement (rim joists). I expected the shop to use about half and the remainder for my basement. I did the shop first. I made one pass and got everything thoroughly. I noticed the pressure starting to drop when I was almost to the end of the wall, so I was hoping I would have enough for the basement. I carted everything down to the house, put on a new nozzle, and sprayed the first basement area, then moved to the second area and sprayed it using another new nozzle. Then I ran out of places to spray at the house and the tanks seemed to have quite a bit still in them. I was ready to be done for the day (and the tanks were cooling off from my cool basement), so I carted it all back up to my shop, and put it aside. The next evening, I put on a new nozzle, and sprayed at least as much as I had the first time. So I now not only have a great seal, I have some pretty thick insulation. It's hard to say exactly how much as where I was spraying was oddly shaped and uneven from the original (poorly covered) spray foam application.
My nits with the system: 1) When installing a nozzle, the handle does not provide a good opposing surface to squeeze against, especially if you have small hands. (However, removing the nozzles were a breeze.) 2) The latex gloves were super cheap and ripped too easily, so I used my own nitrile gloves. 3) The bunny suit arms were too short for this application. Realize that you are spraying with your arms raised—likely above your shoulders, which causes the sleeves to pull up your arm and expose your wrist and forearm. I had to wrap my forearms with rags and hold them on with rubber bands to cover the gap.
I would not hesitate to purchase and use this product again, but with few tweaks, it could be even better.
First let me say I don't write reviews very often. I had an issue with one of the kits I purchased. I believe that the gun was bad. This caused me not to get the correct mixture of produce coming out the gun. I reached out by email and the next day I had a response. A great response! I was simply asked a few questions and they shipped me what I needed at zero cost. I have used this product 4 times now it it does what it should. The temperature is key as they tell you. It does also appear that you get the 600 feet out of it. It's messy when doing ceilings but that is expected. I'm glad to see a company stand behind their product.
