After receiving two separate quotes for closed cell spray foam for our roof deck for $9000 and $11,000; accepting one and then having the contractor ghost us; I decided we would do it ourselves. We went to home depot and got a froth pack… The hose was short, the foam got everywhere…. We through 3 of them. And only got a small portion done… I started looking for other options and wanted something that would be easier to get to the hard to reach spots. I was nervous about ordering online and then tried the new wall cavity foam from Great stuff… (don’t buy it please it’s horrible) Didn’t stick to anything…. Returned it and googled my heart out and pondered for a week over which brand to try. I decided to try the Purple coat. Best decision I have made! I got the 24 canister pack and then also ordered the long gun. I heated everything accordingly and even with it being cold outside and using space heaters and heating pads. I made sure the canisters got to 80F and the roof deck was sitting at 70-72F. I got close to 600BF That’s an additional 120BF than advertised and the same out I got from 3 froth paks at $400 a piece! It was so easy to apply, switch out the canisters, and the guns worked precisely. I’m a small women and don’t really want to carry around the giant canisters or have a roller dolly upstairs. This is easy for me to do by myself. I’m thrilled!
But it didn’t cover near the area i thought it would. It figured to be 2 cans, but i would’ve actually needed at least three.
Fire block spray foam is what it says it is. The project is going well and application is straight forward. I am obviously using more product than I first calculated. Overall quality product.
I am using this product in my wood shop and it has been great. fI was going to have my shop professionally done until they told me I had to move everything out for them to do it. I found this product and can take my time and move a few things from a section at a time without having to move everything out. I'm on my third case and it has worked flawlessly. I did find it works best if you run gun cleaner through each time you change cans and use a new tip each can change and you will be very happy with the results.
